Chalmers University of Technology to use new Summon™ discovery service
Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden has recently deployed the Summon™ discovery service as the new search engine for its library. The library serves over 11,000 students, researchers and faculty members and wants to provide its users with simple and effortless access to its extensive collection of electronic material. A novel search engine that finds all the relevant information
Summon is a new web-based, Google-like search engine that enables its users to search for information simultaneously in both a library's collections and Summon's own database. Summon's database has a comprehensive index of databases from a large number of publishers and other information sources, which allows for all-encompassing search results and makes the service particularly well suited for academic and scientific libraries. The user is presented with a clear list of relevant search results that also lets the user see at a glance which records are available as full text versions. Summon is effortless to deploy: it is a fully hosted service that can be customized to meet the specific needs of any library.
